Obviously they wanted me to use the vehicle to deliver this next package and it was a little trickier than anticipated.Īs I explored and drove around, there were more things to factor in, like speed: if you go too fast the package will fly out, or the shocking surprise that if you drive over a manhole cover, your package and vehicle will get bumped into the air. The next dispenser that is marked has a vehicle spawn when you lift the switch to get the package out. Seems simple, until you actually try to move the package with any precision. Grab the package dispenser switch, lift it up to pop out a package, and deliver it to the marked location. The game starts off teaching you the basics of making a delivery. I decided to try my hand offline to explore what the game had to offer and let me tell you it is a banana sandwich. When I fired up the game it gave me the option of playing locally with up to four players or online with the same amount. There is a twist, you have to control the arms of the delivery person individually similarly to other titles like Octodad or QWOP. For example, the ice gauntlet allows you to shoot a bow and arrow made of ice, create a small snowstorm that slows and eventually freezes trapped players. In Spellbreak, each gauntlet provides an additional ability. You’re not just limited to shooting fireballs or creating poisonous gas clouds, either. Each gauntlet has a corresponding weakness to it to cancel its effects - think rock, paper, scissors - such as shooting a fireball at a cloud of poisonous gas and converting it to a small inferno. Instead of using guns and grenades to eliminate your opponents, you’re given a series of elemental gauntlets (fire, ice, stone, wind, etc). ![]() This is the first time players have been given the chance to play a spellcasting battle royale. ![]() ![]() i've beaten the game myself, leaves it open for more content to say the least. It does feel a fair bit different than Satisfactory, with its more cartoonish look, toy-like clicking, 3D printed items, and full ground deformation with your digging tool, there's a simple joy to creating and finding things, especially if you're the type that likes to go full packrat and just store tons of resources and things to research. I haven't beaten the game yet, but I know what I need to do it's a matter of time. In this game you search all over, both above and in the ground, to gather resources to build better technology to enhance your traversal options, making bases on multiple planets to dig to their cores and uncover. It's fun making a factory, but it eventually just starts to get heavy on the math, and can really drive you crazy if you want to min/max everything. Originally posted by Suzaku:I feel that Satisfactory is more about building with a pinch of exploration mainly for hard drives. Beacons only extend so far on your HUD because of the curve of the world. There is no map to research or view and the directions are all mixed up.Īnd this is because each planet rotates on horizontal axis rather the vertical but its not the least bit explained in the game.Īlso you can get lost.Very very easily. Enemies are all static plantlife and can be killed being uprooted. Its not really described but its okay because it's hinted enough. Which is sort of the unspoken objective of the game. In fact you can dig right to the core of each planet. Terrain is 100% morphable and can be removed by hand drill or vehicle/crane drill and digging down is one of the highlights of this game. Now this does not restrict you to exploring by vehicle only because you can contruct a set of tether poles via backpack to extend your lifeline outside the base. Now here is where it gets unique: Your astroneer is on limited oxygen at all times but as long as you are near something which is generating oxygen, a beam of blue light will tether out to you and refill or keep it topped off. It does not affect machinery but only you, however you can extend oxygen flow to the rest of your machinery and build pads as long as there is an active oxygen generator somewhere. Its always generated at all vehicles, your shuttle, and your base shelter. Oxygen works in almost much the same way. The more power there is being generated, the faster your machines operate and luckily there is no threat of an overload. Power is used to operate your base and vehicles as well as the small machinery you install on your backpack. Power and Oxygen are perhaps the most unique game mechanics I've seen. There is also no food or drink system. However there is one other resource aside from power that you must keep active at your base, vehicles, and yourself. ![]() Health is never an issue as its only portrayed by red border and regens on its own. The research chamber will whittle away at the object over time, it's speed depending on how much power is generated. Many of them are small and can be instantly researched while larger ones end up needing to be carried back and placed on a research chamber. Grinding through technology relies on finding researchable items to gather points. Small printer, solar panel, and wind turbine can either be placed on a larger platform or they will deploy their own personal platform if placed on the ground. ![]() Once you select a build plan on a printer, you place the resource type needed on a peg on a printer. How you build is via 4 types of 3D printers:Backpack printer, Small, medium, and large. Buildings mainly consist of machinery with most needing to be placed on a platform and powered either by wind turbines, solar panels, generators, or stored batteries connected by retractable cables to each platform they are on. There is storage, mind you, but it is all peg-based. Astroneer is perhaps the most unique of all the builder type games because you dont make a base in the traditional sense of laying out a floor then walls and there is no such thing as an internal inventory or storage. ![]() ![]() ![]() Make sure to browse the sound library before you pay for the element you’re looking for. You can choose from hundreds of sounds from bells, telephones, horns and gunshots to ambient noise and mood-setting tones. VideoPad comes with an impressive library of stock sounds that you can use for free. Additionally, you can adjust the speed of audio and even play it in reverse, but that’s standard for most video editing software You can add things like reverb, echo and distortion, but not much more. The audio effects library also leaves a lot to be desired. For anything else, you’ll need another program. You’re left with merely the ability to trim sound clips, adjust volume and add fades and effects. It has no sound mixer because it has a sister program, MixPad, that handles the in-depth audio work. They’re a good way to give your clips a unified look, but they don’t have near the utility of the color correction and augmentation tools found in other video editing software.Īnother place where VideoPad falls down is in the audio editing section. Filters include “black & white,” “sepia,” “night vision,” “X-ray,” “old film” and more. ![]() The effects library includes a number of preprogrammed filters that you can use to give your video a distinct look. They’re good for what they do, but they don’t go far. ![]() You can crop the frame of your footage, pan and zoom, add motion blur and adjust picture values such as hue, saturation, exposure and more. The library of visual effects and transitions in VideoPad is quite basic. Other editing programs provide a simpler, cleaner way to get things such as titles, credits and other text into your projects. Clicking the “add text” or “add title” buttons launches a separate editing window where you input your text and design how you want it to look. Getting text on your videos is more complicated than it ought to be. If a project is complex, like a music video or film would be, you’ll need more room. Most simple projects won’t call for more than two audio tracks, making VideoPad great for things such as home videos. We like that versatility because it only makes you pay for what you need. The Master’s Edition gives you unlimited audio tracks. The Home Edition gives you unlimited video editing tracks but only two audio tracks. The amount of audio tracks you get in VideoPad depends on how much you pay for it. If your project calls for a lot of visual elements, you’ll need as many tracks as possible. That’s outstanding for complicated projects because it makes the program quite versatile. VideoPad gives you unlimited video tracks to work with. The two modes complement each other because you can lay out the general idea of your project in storyboard mode and do the fine-tuning in the timeline. Those who have edited video before will be familiar with VideoPad’s timeline and storyboard workflow.
